Having a look over at sleazebay it appears a monumental scam/scandal is , and has been going on for one full month at least. Sellers report extrememly low page views and sales. In addition, more talk and evidence of "rolling blackouts", unannounced search beta testing, and the biggest tell of all... censorship of an admission by ebay live chat rep that there was a technical issue.

There were some pink replies. I could have sworn at some point the pink said something like  "There are no technical issues on the site."  (at which point those of us here roared with laughter) The pink replies were edited several times over. One person states that ebay pink accused the poster of the live chat of falsifying the chat record

It should be very obvious by now that eb is trying to squeeze more and more money from les and less people. What will they come up with next?

This should be met with complaints to the FTC, and State's Atty Generals, citing a pattern of fraud. This is fraud in that a falshood and censorship appear to be being used as a tool, while profits are derived from not supplying the product/service advertised, and this is all aimed at collectimg more funds through relist fees and upgrade offers.

Another oddity I see being mentioned is what has happened to the charts at medved?
No data since sometime in April, May charts are broken images.

Interesting that over at dealscart.com there are less than 25 Million listings shown for USA right now. So no stretch to believe that 50% or more of the alleged +/- 120 M is Chinese junk.

...Or just plain imaginary, existing nowhere but in eb's counts. laughing.gif

Okay I have been seeing DRAMATIC view differences, I have a couple listings for a HUGE lot of D batteries and there has been absolutely NO views at all. No matter what Im selling, even if it was a piece of CORN, it at least has several views. This is the same "5 days straight.." thread from ebaY Seller Central forum, now active for over one full year.

I don't think there can be any doubt that Mom & Pop sellers at sleazebay are being micro-manipulated and milked for every dime they can be.

"Rolling blackout" now seems much too loose and generic a term for what is being done.

I hope folks are able to make study groups, construct experiments, and collect/collate data to be used in  lawsuits if not criminal investigations/prosecutions.

More evidence that sleazebay is manipulating their seller's visibility and sales to the Nth degree... via even more parameters.

There's even reference to things like what I believe I captured while conducting searches here --> ebaY Finding Treatment 51

 

It wouldn't  be that hard for the notion of micro-manipulated sales and visibilty to be empirically proven through structured testing, reducing to graphs charts etc.

Fortunately, for sleazebay, the users are famous for being complacent.

They already know that no one will do squat, let alone band together for a common purpose and stick to it.

The company can ever increasingly scam them for thousand$ upon thousands, mistreat and abuse them, make completely illegal and bogus changes etc over the years... but let another seller overcharge them 39 cents for shipping and they come unglued.
