I know someone whose dormant account was hijacked. They did not even bother contacting ebaY.

EbaY's own lax security caused the problem, so the philosophy was, "let them deal with it themselves"

Oh I do hope there was not too much of a mess to clean up.

Whatever..

Let a small problem turn to a big one.

Blame the hapless consumer. They are being redirected from WITHIN the auction listings.

Clearly an ebay problem.

As far as phishing emails, SCO, etc, ebay has the sole and last clear chance to prevent (from having effectiveness to the scammers) them as well, simply by sending out text only, sans-link emails. Simple as that, and they know it.

They, alone, have the ability the cut the entire problem at the quick.

Any and all consumers harmed deserve compensation.

Whats really cute is I reported it to ebay and got a reply that they would look into it within 24 hrs..  But I posted it on the paypal board and the listings were pulled within 5 min..  Then they pulled my post.

Aaaah yes, the old memory hole sucks up everything.

What they are really doing though is showing a clear and continuing pattern of concealment and/or obfuscation.

We will be seeing more examples, I have no doubt
