I must be extremely disappointing to you that no financial news site (Forbes, MSNBC, CBSMarke****ch, WSJ, BusinessWeek, etc.) has the KNOWLEGE you have.

Those numbers kinda are the reason for the discussion on the paypal boards..why does paypal make it so hard to close an account AND why dont they close an account automatically when its been idle?
HINT..to keep their numbers up! They focus on the number of accounts, NOT the inactive ones or dormant ones - same as ebay
Furthermore, as far as the ebay membership numbers... We all know those are waaaaaay skewed. I won't say how many IDs I have but it is more than one. Who knows how much their membership would drop if we were all to only be allowed 1 ID? At LEAST in half I bet.

That means if xppman says PayPal is failing, and WSJ, Forbes, CBS, CNN, etc. say otherwise then xppman is right. Because that's what you want to believe.
Maybe it's reasonable to believe xppman KNOWS that eBay is using Enron accounting practices and none of the credible finacial news sites have that knowledge.
I confess to be really bored but I do enjoy watching watching this cult of denial.
No denial here ass wipe... go LOOK at the Q 3 2006 report.
Sorry if you can't do math and I know that media outlets won't make libelous statements about a company. One other thing many of the so called anayst have a special interest to try and PUMP up and skew the numbers too. Can anyone say stock options or portfolio?
It's OK.
Like I said. I'm not going to argue with you. The facts are the facts. 75% of the users are NOT active users with PP at this time ...end of story.
Now are they making more money with PP? Who knows... I mean has anyone done a complete and independent "audit" of those numbers?
I think not.
I be willing to bet if the FEDS simultaneously walked into eBay and PP HQ today.. seized all thier assets.. computers files and paperwork and at the same time FROZE every single holding, bank account and financial item.
We would see a different story emerging from the media.
It's only a matter of time... mark my words. Oh and no matter what, when a company keeps loosing members quarter after quarter as both feeBay and PP continue to do... it will all snowball at the end just like Enron.
Does it say anywhere how many chargebacks were made and the value of those, how many free items were had, how many of the accounts were hacked or hijacked?
How entertaining it is to recoup from thieves?

Apples and oranges moron. Sale is not the topic it is active users. Or the lack of them. LOL
Can't you see that? Oh wait here let me help.
You just stay right there and go down w the ship. (Going down seems to be your favorite past time anyway) The rest of us have already left you morons in the dust a long time ago.

Anon just like when feebay runs specials and credit the seller "later" It's no different and I've seen many reports over the last few months indicating that many of the people concerned are NOT buying it anymore.
Another reason you don't see me post to often. My work is done and the ship is sinking. OK it's not just me but millions who just don't do the whole eBay PP thing like they did. Unless you count FREE China .
Oh wait they are getting thier asp handed to them over there too.

Ah... I see what you mean now. These numbers that reflect an increase in PayPal usage are bogus.
Total payment volume (millions)...............$6,667.....$8,114.....$8,769.....$8,856.....$9,123 ..Current quarter vs prior quarter..................3%.......22%.......... 8%..........1%.......... 3% ..Current quarter vs prior year quarter....... 44%.......45%.........41%........37%.........37%
The truth is that xppman has calculated a 75% decline in PayPal membership and the 37% increase in payments amount over last year is due to magic.
If you had told me magic was involved in the first place I wouldn't have needed to respond at all.
Yes that sums it up. They are on a downward trend as far as users.
eBay Inc. Unaudited Payments Supplemental Operating Data (In Millions, Except Percentages) September December March June September 30, 31, 31, 30, 30, 2005 2005 2006 2006 2006 --------- -------- ------- ------- ---------
Total accounts (1) 86.6 96.2 105.0 113.7 122.5 Current quarter vs prior quarter 10% 11% 9% 8% 8% Current quarter vs prior year quarter 53% 51% 47% 44% 41%
Active accounts (2) 24.5 28.1 29.2 29.5 30.9
Total accounts: 122.5 Total active: 30.9
That's 91.6 MILLION Inactive accounts
You try to "re-do" the math. LOL
God I swore I was NOT going to argue with some KoolAid drinking moron ever again.
Oh wait. I'm NOT arguing just presenting the facts in the topic.
Side NOTE:
(1) Cumulative total of all accounts opened, including users who made payments using PayPal but have not registered, excluding accounts that have been closed or locked and excluding payment gateway business accounts.(2) All accounts, and users whether registered or not, that sent or received at least one payment through the PayPal system during the quarter.
xppman wrote: Or is it possible that the "Creative accounting team" just put a few 0's here or a few ,'s there?
These criminals wouldn't tell you the truth if thier momma's were on fire and the only way to put her out was to be honest.
Ah... so the numbers in the quarterly filings you got for your calculation are correct, but the numbers in the quarterly filings for the number of payments and revenue volumes may be lies.
I'm not nearly as sophisticated as you. I noticed the number of accounts that were inactive the last quarter increase, the number of active accounts increase, the number of payments increased, the revenue volume increased. Factored all together it looked like a good even great quarter for PayPal.
Lucky for morons like me you're around to give an unbiased translation that the news services are afraid to give. Who'd have thunk that CNN, CBS, WSJ, Forbes, etc., could be fooled into thinking PayPal had a great quarter. More morons like me I guess.
Well yes I have to agree many of the news outlets can be moronic especially when the may also be "share holders" and yes I HAD an agenda and always said I did.
Also the numbers they present for my OP do fit well for me so... sure I'll use them.
Noteworthy to announce that MY revenue has went up too year over year and quarter over quarter. Strange thing is at the same time my ppBay payments went down substancailly too.
Now what could that mean?
Seems I'm not alone in that area either... How many FULL time largest sellers have went bye bye in the last few quarters?
Please be a good moron and go dig that up for us will ya.
