One problem that eBay faces is that sellers have listed too many items in its store formats, creating confusion for buyers, Whitman says. That's why eBay is raising fees for store listings, of which eBay had more than 100 million in the quarter, she says. The company says a "typical" person who uses the stores format will see their fees rise by less than 6%.
Six percent? That stinks of the only a dollar comment. Its better to use gbase and buy adwords. Too many items causing confusion? Yarrrite, mosey over to the stores board and the koolaid pusher voices are telling you your sales are lax because you need to list more items. The typical person is already finding out the overhead for a store, combined with competition, lagging sales, lack of buyers, AFUd search feature, ad nauseum-infinitum, they are working for way less than McDs might pay, with 100 times the stress, as well as a 100% risk factor on any and all PayPal transactions. Some store sellers have reported going ridiculously into the red following ebays guidance. (but they got em a real purty shiny star/PS icon)
eBay sellers can be a cantankerous lot. Many complained on the company's message boards about the company's decision to ban the use of Google Checkout for security reasons.
Yarrrrrite, who isnt cantankerous when they dont get what is promised and paid for? (As in higher fees for miserable service, security problems like the BIN bandits, lack of transparency and honesty on the part of ebay, etc, ad nauseum-infinitum)
Meg, the community WANTS google checkout! No matter what you might say, even Ray Charles could see you are not being truthful. Lets compare googles overall security record with both ebay and PayPal.
Ebay still has unresolved, cross scripting security problems right now, which have gone unanswered and unacknowledged for well over a full year.
For all intent and purposes ebay is hacked. Just because it is only hacked one listing at a time does not mean it is not hacked.
Folks can go to the site and get reamed, WITHIN the site. Plenty of the redirect scam auctions show up each and every day, and the scammers are finding new techniques.Ebay is hacked. Not only need you worry about a scam seller, it is not really even safe to surf or browse there anymore. Ebay has been recommended to be added as a blocked site in the hosts file.
PayPal and its users are also constantly hammered away upon by hackers, crackers, phishers, vishers, whatever.
. In the interview, Whitman denies that the decision was made because of any sort of animosity between eBay and Google.
Oh, of course not ...why... the very thought is completely absurd.
"When you handle people's money, you have to be right 100% of the time," Whitman says. "There is some chance," she adds, that eBay will eventually allow its clients to use Google Checkout.
Well Meg, Tell that to PayPal. Practice what you preach. You better bone up. Because you are NOT right all of the time and the facts prove it. How could she make that statement with a straight face? (practice?)
Shares rose $1.42 late Wednesday to $27.35.
I see it closed at less than 26.
