My good friend "who I wont mention his eBay ID here" sells Mustang parts, lots & lots of Mustang parts 3000+ Positive feedbacks and what is amazing to me is how many money orders he gets every week. I mean $200-$300-$500-$600 dollar money orders left and right. I would guess nearly 1/2 of his payments are money orders oh and cash...he gets a lot of cash payments?? I have seen envelopes arrive with cash & not a $20 but $100's with no other info like what it's for? "remember he does high volume". On the other side I always got 90% if not more of my payments thru PP. I sell medium to high dollar electronics, sporting goods, jewelery & lots of misc. cheap stuff too.
It seems people after car parts are more likely to NOT have a PP account than the average eBay shopper & I believe they really need what they purchased & need it bad thus they do what ever they can to get it. Including sending large amounts of cash in a stamped envelopes.
This is just something I have seen & thought about for quite a while now, but I have been thinking about it more since the theft of my money. Just a thought I had & decided to post it.

PayPal is not needed. If you sell anything that cant be bought locally or retail, using checks or money orders wont bother anyone. If someone demands you to accept PayPal, it is a red flag that they will scam you.
Hasnt anyone noticed yet that PayPal uses the same tactics that a con man would? The promise of quick, instant money with the false assurance of safety... Get your money fast---Trust me... yeahrite.... Have a bit of patience, stick to postal money orders, they are much safer and better for the seller. Only scam buyers insist on payment with PayPal, because they know they can get your item for free. Any honest person will send a postal money order.
Not all buyers I only expected what I paid for nothing more. I got burned this last time by a seller and paypal so I closed my ebay account. Blocked paypal from my checking and credit card so I can close paypal. Opened a new ebay account and only pay via money order or personal check. I followed paypal instrutions to send item back and paypal claimed invalid tracking because it took longer than 10 days shipping and was hung up a few days at the international dispatch. Shows out for delivery and has for over a week. In the end he may wind up with item and already has the 300 bucks. Item was fraud and I gave paypal the proof

I agree with you 100% about PayPal using the same tactics as a scam artist does!
For the past 4 years I have never been burnt by a buyer thru PayPal, I was just burnt by PayPal them selves. If a buyer has been burnt by sending a money order & did not receive anything from the seller then they will be hesitant &/or very cautious about sending a payment this way again, I would be! Then again I have never been burnt this way so I am pretty trusting to the average eBayer with great feedback.
I just sold a set of Golf clubs to a guy with 0 feedback, less than 1 month member. I emailed him to say I could not accept PayPal & I no longer used their service. He emailed me back saying he did not want them then because he was trying to clean out his PayPal account?????? This sounds very suspicious to me, 0 feedback, new member, why does he have $400 in his PayPal account, why not transfer it to his bank??? Maybe no bank account tied to his PayPal account, meaning NO confirmed address, I could not have shipped them to him anyway if not confirmed. I guess I will file a non paying bidder claim with eBay!

I am considering putting this in my auctions to make PayPal near impossible to use, this is like payPal's SPP (seller protection policy) which is to way too hard to comply with,
#1 Buyer must have a minimum of 500 positive feedbacks (buying transactions only)
#2 Buyer must have a 100% positive feedback rating
#3 Buyer must pay within 5 minutes of the end of the auction
#4 Buyer must supply a confirmed address
#5 Buyer must confirm his/her identity with some proof within 1 hour of the end of the auction, this would include but not limited to the faxing of a utility bill in the same name & address as the name & address on your confirmed PayPal account
#6 If all above conditions are not met you must pay with a US Postal Money order within 5 days of the end of the auction
#7 You the buyer by bidding agree to have read all above terms & agree to comply with the above written terms.

Good one! I thought about the same type of thing only specifying that if they paid using Paypal I would not be sending their widget out for two years when I could be relatively safe they could not do a chargeback. LOL
With my luck a buyer that didn't bother to read the whole listing would bid on it though.
Sounds like a setup and just had 400 dollars to dump....right.
Sounds like he had however much he would have needed but knew thru PayPal he could get it back & get the clubs for free. Just my opinion or gut feeling. Who knows maybe just some idiot . Psss:...I sell to a lot of idiots....lol.
