IMAGINE logging on to your internet banking website and realising that thousands of dollars had been stolen from your account.

Sounds like a nightmare, right?

That's exactly what happened to Adam and Leigh McArthur, of Goonellabah, earlier this week.

"I was checking our statement and saw that $1500 had been spent at a designer clothing shop in America," Mr McArthur said.

"I checked it because the transaction reference didn't ring a bell.

"It was a company I'd never heard of before.

"Straight away I rang the bank and had our debit card cancelled.

"Then I emailed the company and told them the $1500 had been spent illegally.

"The company was pretty good about it - they said something had come up through their security processes anyway; but it is a worry.

"Someone in the States must have gotten my card details."

That card has since been cancelled and chopped up into tiny pieces.

It isn't the first time Mr McArthur has been a victim of personal fraud.

His eBay account was hacked and someone, posing as him, used his account to try to sell a $30,000 Harley Davidson. the rest
