A piece of Buddy Holly history is still on the auction block. Last week, Lubbock collector Bill Clements said he had restored Holly's 1958 Chevy Impala and was selling it on E-Bay with co-owner Peggy Sue Gerron. After 39 bids, the auction closed at $225,600.
While that's a lot of money, the undisclosed reserve price wasn't met so the car was not sold to the highest bidder.
Clements said he stumbled upon the beat up classic in Amarillo decades after Buddy Holly died. Although some have raised questions about the car's origins, Clements says he has the paperwork to prove it was Holly's car.
It's unknown if the car will go back up for auction.
