With Blizzard and Paypal in bed together, there might be a way to stop gold-selling in the blockbuster MMO World of Warcraft video game.
Paypal, known for facilitating digital space payment, was asked by Blizzard to close down the accounts of PayPal members known associated in selling items from the video game. With a player base of over 12 million, World of Warcraft is one of the most successful MMO in the gaming world. Its makers however do not permit the selling of WOW characters, equipment or gold gained from the game. MMO-oriented site Curse reported that PayPal has already sent notices to its members that read "You were reported to PayPal as an Intellectual Properties violation by Blizzard Entertainment Inc. for the sale of World of Warcraft merchandise." Proof to the contrary will however allow PayPal users to dispute their account closure.
