Buying eBay stock using Paypal for buyer protection against SNAD

This is too funny. This is the conversation someone had with ebay live help regarding using Paypal to purchase ebay stock. Not on my server, so someone copy it before it the guy removes it.

Bwhahahahahahahhaha!!!!
That is too funny! Can you imagine the chargebacks on that?
Smells like SNAD to me alright.

I guess ebay will make the jump from being the laughingstock of the internet to being the laughingstock of the finance world next then. biggrin.gif

You would think with all those billions they supposedly have they could hire someone with at least half a brain.

Not that I care, but I hear they had a bad day recently.  Meg and Pierre (and anyone who owns lots of shares) lost million$ upon million$ is what I read somewhere.

Not sure if everyone has seen this yet, but it was featured at auctionbytes not long ago.
Ebay's finest! (maybe second finest)
Please repost this and the above everywhere you can. We need to make sure folks know what they are getting involved with when they use ebay.

eBay Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm...
By: David Steiner
Sun July 20 2008 020:09:22

Just a couple of things kicking around my inbox that don't really have a home, but might be worth a chuckle - or a lobotomy:

So can you purchase eBay stock with PayPal?

According to a thread on the eBay "Seller Central" board, it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Let me rephrase that - according to a screen shot posted in the thread, a Live Help rep didn't say you couldn't purchase eBay stock with PayPal, and seemed to go along with the idea that if eBay's stock performed poorly, you could file an "Item Not as Described" complaint and get your investment back. I wonder if buried somewhere inside this might be a bail-out plan for solving the mortgage crisis using PayPal and chargebacks...

continues... with comment(s)

This issue now receiving more attention...

"Hello I am not a buyer of stocks. I have sold on eBay for 10 years and
just received notification that in order to list I will now have to
take paypal as an option.

Since we have sold in good standing with
100% feedback and a nearly 50% repeat buyer stat we feel we did our
job to satisfy our customers. We refused their offer and will no
longer sell.

However I was a little upset over the entire thing and
thought to myself what if eBay were a seller and had to deal with the
current policies it created by using paypal. I got a brain fart and
decided to contact live help and ask the following questions.

Purely as a humerus joke for myself but I was taken back at the answer I got.

We forwarded the following to cnn, msnbc, We have someone working on
getting it on youtube, and I am adding it here:.....I am not sure if I
can screen shot it here so I am going to include the following from
live help, and I quote:...

Vincy K: Hello, thanks for waiting and welcome to eBay live help. My
name is Vincy. How may I help You....

From Me:Hello I am currently registered on eBay. My question regards
the purchase of eBay stock. I would like to purchase stock through
paypal under paypals current giudelines. This would allow me as a
buyer added protection if the item is not as described. Can this be
done?.....

Vincy K: I understand that you wish to purchase eBay stock using
paypal....Vincy K: Let me assure you that paypal is the safest mode of
payment method and does have a buyer protection.....

From Me: correct I am "considering" this. However will I be allowed
the same protection as a buyer, as the buyers currently have who
purchase on eBay?....

Vincy K: Yes, you can contact paypal to know more about this
protection. Would you like the contact information of paypal?....

From Me: Regarding buyer protection you are telling me that if I
purchase stock with paypal and the stock turns out to be not as
described meaning it tanks lower then my purchase price or I find it a
poor investment then I can file a Item not as described for a refund
of my original purchase price?....

Vincy K: Yes you are absolutely correct....

From Me: Thank You I have the site info and will consider this? Have a
nice day.....blah blah blah......

Can live help on eBay's behalf really
make such a statement, that they will reimburse the buyer the price
they paid for the stock even if it goes down? What do you think?"

I'm in... Where do I buy?

Oh wait. I kicked PayPal to the curb.
Think they'll let me get a new account just for the stocks buy?
I'm sure they will be SNAD and my money is 'protected' with PreyPal... right?

I hear you can first go buy something at eb, file not as described and/or leave a neg. They will send you a coupon you can use too.

Oh yea, I've read about those.
Coupons that don't work.
glitch or GLITCH? LMAO

Now that will 'enhance' the buyers experience. roflmao

They are so obviously in a "must need money now" situation,
that they will grab it any way they can man.
It's so funny to watch the ship wreck from the bleachers. biggrin
