eBay hacker did not compromise Oracle

The news is full of reports about the hacker who exposed 1,200 eBay ID's, and one Oracle blogger offers unverified claims that an acquaintances PayPal account was cleaned-out!

But don't believe any hype, it was not Oracle that got hacked!

eBay is one of the world's largest Oracle shops yet this data disclosure was not related to the database layer.

The latest word from eBay is that a front-end weakness was exploited, and you can see the dynamics of the attack here on Youtube, allegedly by the criminal himself. Here, the hacker shows how he did it, all within the GUI. BFD!

eBay did issue this statement confirming that Oracle was not to blame:

The video was added to youtube on August 24th, 2007.
The video does not even show the Trust & safety board.
Guess he never ever bothered to even search youtube or yahoo or elGoog for any info.
(Or people are just plain being intentionally dishonest.)

That must make 2 or 3 places who did not even check the most basic facts.

Oh well, maybe they will get another chance to get it right.
