eBay Bans Embedded Video - and Its Own Developers?

eBay announced sellers may link to videos in their listings, an announcement that seemed to come out of the blue considering many sellers already include videos in their eBay auctions. eBay also told users they were prohibited from embedding videos in their listings, despite the fact eBay's Solutions Directory lists approved third-party vendors that offer video-embedding services.

Under the new policy, sellers are limited to using five eBay-approved video hosting sites: YouTube, Google, MySpace, Microsoft, or AOL, services selected "for their combination of popularity, ease of use, and the protection they offer against harmful programs being used inside the videos."

The announcement stated that eBay thinks "the time is right to bring the video experience to eBay."

ebay only proves what a freeloading hypocrite IT is even more with each day's passing.

So true they don't mind using others resources for free but don't ever try to use theirs free.

Look at the gallery pic for .35 cents for example.
I know a lot of sellers who host their on pics, so why is greedbay charging sellers .35 cents?

They charging for something they are not even hosting?

It just illustrates the true greed and blatant fraud they engage in.

I also know a lot of people who still use pp but are using their free accounts
and went underground and quit talking about it.
Most say due to other fees they are forced to cut some fees somewhere
and naturally cutting the pp fees was one of the first to go.

Can you imagine how bogged down youtube would be if everyone and their brother decided to join the 21st century all at once, and head over there for the Web 2.0 online auction seller experience?

 That site is already bogged, maybe because it is growing by leaps and bounds.
Digressing, it is also free, fun, entertaining, user friendly and controllable completely by the user/surfer, and.... you don't get scammed!

What a concept!

Yeah, that PP/ebay payment scam thingy, they get a cut of everything, all down the line, and I can tell you, by the time you use all the stupid extras, you may as well have just gone straight to your own banker to look into a merchant account, or maybe google, bidpay, whatever

I have a merchant account and use Google too.

It comes out to about 10.00 more a month or less, to use a real merchant account.
I'll gladly pay that for piece of mind, the prestige of having one and knowing I'm in the drivers seat.

Many years selling online with zero problems.

Only a few brain wash people even bother to use PP anymore
and that's usually for eBay purchases.

Yes, with any merchat account, you will also have more of a chance to fight any chargebacks. A right which paypal takers away from you via there convoluted UA.

  If it is with your bank, you can actually just go there, and have a face to face.

Hell
I had one just recently where a customer purchased a couple of high dollar items.

I'm happy they went through my MA.

I pulled to transaction and saw NNNM in the avs codes.

So I e mailed the customer, who BTW wanted it shipped to yet another address.

To recap.
The billing address did not match at all.
The ship address was to an apartment not related to the bogus billing address.

And to top it off the customer has yet to respond to my e mail inquiry as to what's up with the address things?

I have the customers phone number I can call,
but I feel no need to call customers who don't even supply a correct billing address that matches that of the CC they are using.

Now this may very well turn out that the guy just moved or something.

But till he contacts ME and says:
"Hey where's is my stuff?"

I'll just sit back and allow the first attempt to purchase with erroneous
info to drop off from the MA's screen and the card in question will NOT be charged.

If the customer updates his info and try again.
No harm no foul.

Got to love having some control over this type stuff.
And I must say..
Even Google Pay shows you if all the avs stuff matches or not,
so you know what "risk" you may be taking UP FRONT.
