(December 12, 2006)--You still might have a chance at getting that rare acetate of the first Velvet Underground album.
The Montreal man who sold his has been the victim of an eBay prankster.
Warren Hill bought a copy of "The Velvet Underground and Nico" at a flea market for 75 cents.
It turned out to be a rare acetate with alternate takes and a different order.
He put it up for sale on eBay, and on Friday, the winning bid was $155,401 by a man from Oakland, Calif.
Buit Hill told Canadian Press the winning bidder was fake.
Saturn Records of Oakland, which oversaw the sale, says it received an apologetic e-mail from the man believed to have been the high bidder.
The man said a prankster friend who used his eBay account without his knowledge submitted the bid.
Hill says he will try to sell the album again, but he's not sure if he'll auction it off on the Internet this time.
Hilarious!
Just more proof that when you deal with sleazy unsafe websites, you will take it in the sphincter. Good thing they are doing away with pre-approved bidders, eh?
Interesting sidenote: The original auction had paypal logos mysteriously show up AFTER the auction was up and running for hours, despite the fact that the seller did not select that payment option. (as stated in the auction, towards bottom)

To bad the new auction is pre-approved with IDs hidden. It would have been a great way of having some fun, since it was only a "prank" and no one seemed to mind.(least of all the owner, from what I read)
Also, the person listing it most likely forgot to uncheck the paypal preferred option as it is listaed as payment method with the text addendum in the auction body again.
I was able to DL the whole thing from somewhere, after 3 times through audio editing to get rid of all the pops and hiss, it still was not really all that good.
But let me take a moment to ask you, BigButtBellisima, just how big is that butt?
Between you and the real Bell, whose butt is bigger?

My butt isn't big. In answer to your next question, I'm not 50+ years old either.

I am sure eBay is more then happy with the listing fees and FVF to look the other way. Besides, it isn't easy getting the Paypal logo carp off a listing!
I hope someone offers the seller big bucks to sell off of eBay.

You shouldn't believe everything you read.
We all know how many unscrupulous liars live on the net. Misinformation is the norm.

Hey Emerald, you don't have to worry about misinformation here at Capp. If there are two things we know for sure, it's Bell has a HUGE butt and PP/Slezebay sux.
It will probably just turn out to be another boring evening hovering over the ol gas chromatograghy mass spectrometer for warmth, and watching the sponges at the solder rework station, as they slowly expand anyway.
(whoopee)
