One thing about craigslist I can call and go look at and pay for the item in person!!!! Lots of scams on there also but there isn't a hidden user agreement so your on you own....but much safer if you don't have $$$$$$ to donate to Paypal or ebay!!!!!!!
It is much nicer to have a face to face, look in the eye, handshake deal. (regardless of whether you are buying or selling)
After sooo many folks have been scammed sending $$$ into cyberspace, and/or chargebacks, more are realizing staying local is a great way of avoiding scams. and other problems; eg; shipping related SNAFUs.
Craigslist is partially owned by sleazebay, BTW.
There is also a site called gorage.com, although not bursting with listings, such sites would be my choice before I ever send $$$ or an item off to some unscrupulous scamming (read: typical ) sleazebayer somewhere.

Yepper, online purchasing was a fad and now the numbers are dropping.
A few subscription business journals have mentioned US online sales increasing from 65 billion to 117 billion... but they've got an agenda and their data is screwed up. No sir, they can't fool me, I read the CAPP.
