Hi All,

I know this is an older thread but I wanted to update you all that we took your feedback regarding this matter and passed on it on to the appropriate parties.

Because of your feedback and that of others in the community, it has been decided to discontinue including these advertisements in our PayPal transaction emails at this time. We would also like to assure you that no payment or personally-identifiable information was shared because of these advertisements.

Thanks,
Eric

I still can't figure out whether they are listening to users, or their IT dept couldn't figure it out, legal issues arose, ethical questions ( however unlikely THAT may be), or any unknown number of other possible reasons/causes, but they 86'd it. (relatively quickly too, they only let it throw wrenches into the system and pi$$ folks off for 1-2 months anyway.)

This is sort of an old thread, but the topic is still very relative. First, I have taken a few screencaps of what all is embedded in PayPal's main page; see all about IT here.

Second, I notice that the pink post I quoted above has gone missing...

Third, there were plenty of articles about this when I posted this in Oct. There were threads about it on ebaY/paypal boards.
Now what is left is only this
