Unless he (or anyone) has permission to use that image then no, they can't legally use it. However, since no one is making money off the image then the issue really wouldn't be persued.

I agree with nappers that he/she probably is not using it legally but no one really cares so it is a moot point. Jim Henson Co. could care less about some pathetic little discussion board on ebay.
Now the real problem seems to be his fight with knives and the threats therein for using the very same signature (with a couple of modifications). That shows what kind of person we are dealing with.
Ex law enforcement can mean quite a few things. How were they "exed"? I would guess they were ridiculed growing up, overcompensated by becoming law enforcement and then couldn't cut it.
Stealing bandwidth however is a different matter. I hope he persues it fully.

I have to admit to a transgression here. The only reason that I used their bandwidth and gif was to get them pissed off, this was a waste of my time, and against everything I have preached in the past. I could have used that time to win converts and help others that were having paypal problems. But it does go to show the hatefulness of the pros, and the very thin ice of reality they dwell on. You do get tired of all their hateful attacks on a daily basis. They can be out of line but never wrong, whereas you are always wrong.
