The PlayStation 4 is currently sold out at Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon, but gamers desperate to get their hands on Sony's next-generation console have another option - eBay.
"Gamers hunting for the PS4 are flocking to eBay, currently with thousands of available units, to score the newest console and one of the holiday's most sought after products," eBay spokesman Clark Hu said in an statement to PCMag. As of Nov. 18, there were approximately 13,000 PS4 listings on eBay.
At this point, it appears that most of the PS4s up for sale on the auction site are going for more than the console's $399.99 retail price tag. For instance, an unopened launch-edition PS4 (with Best Buy receipt) received 21 bids before selling this morning for $580. Many other sellers are offering the console with "Buy It Now" prices north of $600.
It oughtta be fun to see how many people get a good screwing on sleazebay over this situation /craze. You can bet the numbers won't be few.
Just go look at some of the PS4 listings. You can tell right off the bat lots and lots of them are fraud.
Golly, this sorta reminds me of the time sleazebay sent a couple of their well-known goons to a gamer forum on the other side of the cyber-cosmos to defend ebay's honour by calling all the victims of the latest gameconsolefraude episode liars and thieves. (of the scam that ebay/paypal; pulled themselves or allowed to be pulled, then cheated everyone on their bogus protection policy)
Back then you had to pay a $25 BPP shakedown fee and still you might still get sent packing.
I don't think anyone ever got their money back or an apology...
