As of this afternoon East Coast time, the eBay Forums (now powered by Lithium instead of LiveWorld) have been "Closed for Maintenance," with no mention of for how long other than "Please try again later." Meanwhile, eCommerceBytes has heard from some users who are unhappy campers not only about the forums being closed in the middle of a business day with no advance warning, but about words being bleeped out.

However, on the ebaY community forums there are still many complaints over the missing content. I have yet to see any reference to any deep dark info which may have been soooo bad as to have to take them all down though (you know, like 40 pages of peoples' personal confidential info, clear down to the time and date they joined ebaY? ) roflmao
There is some speculation the boards went down so they could 'fix' them to disallow the use of the Firefox greasemonkey ignore script that someone made.
Lots of people will likely find that ignore script essential. It works whether signed in or not.
There was a lot of whining going on by the very people the ignore script was made over/for. LoLz! If ebaY were looking for [more] ways to alienate people, I think they found it.
Those forums are a sleazy spam filled cluster anymore if you hadn't noticed.
This is hilarious! Lithium or whoever is just now restoring lost content from the outage of August 5, 2013. But it seems they don't have the ability or common sense to replace them in their proper chronological order. Therefore, you see thread topics with a date of earlier this month on top of current topics.
Maybe somehow they could use one of paypal's intergalactic money holding space-barges to orbit the Earth counterclockwise at greater than light speed, to go back in time and correct whatever took them out? lmao
Also being mentioned, the appearance of various special text characters in the replaced posts, such as an umlaut, circumflex tilde etc.
This moderation outfit ebaY picked is doing great things.
Keep up the good work!
