RUMMAGE through your closet. Amass your no-longer-desirable designer clothes. Carry them to a consignment store or upload jpegs to eBay and wait for someone to deem your castoffs worthy of purchase. Or if you are on the buying end: pray the designer pieces you bought online are genuine.

That used to be the drill for clothing resale, but with a spate of new sites devoted to the practice, the drill is changing fast.

Hello La Mode, introduced in July, was created by Eric Gagnaire, Thierry Sebba and Mathieu Bibart, three French businessmen who noticed that their female friends loved buying luxury goods from eBay, but were hesitant to make purchases without the pieces being verified.
