Just go on twitter, search for paypal in realtime. Let it stay there for 5 minutes. Then count how many of the tweets are ads for fake sweepstakes, buying 'male enhancement' products, 'get rich quick' schemes, or to buy fake follwers, fans and subscribers etc.
Hardly any of the tweeets will be legit. The overwhelming amount are for something hoky in some way shape or form.
For extra points, search for other related terms like paypal hacked, paypal sucks etc.
Not a pretty picture.
When it's that obvious to the 'naked eye', just imagine what someone could do with some data gathering & colating effort?
