ebaY's "want it now" site has been down since around September 24th or so. No official announcement from ebay. The outage appears to have affected the main ebay.com site as well as ebay.au and ebay.uk, according to reports on ebay's community forums Technical Issues board. It's also being reported that ebay's offshore customer service doesn't have any knowledge whatsoever as to the very nature of "Want it now"
I wasn't able to find that alleged statement, but "want it now": http://ebay.com/wantitnow/
has been redirecting to the main page for quite some time. Maybe since around September sometime. Maybe the same time they went down last year? It's right in keeping with ebaY to not announce this type of thing since it holds no (or negative) PR value. It fits their pattern of behaviour well.
The redirect to home page instead of announcement landing page is pretty damned unprofessional. wow!
It really looks as if Want it Now is gone for good. It's even been removed from the ebaY site map at this time.
As I mentioned above, that's highly unprofessional to just discontinue a service which folks used without any notice whatsoever. At least a few people are asking about it.
Great job sleazebay! The new sleazebay promises to be even more dysfunctional, while offering a reduction in range and quality of services at increased cost and less ease of operation than the old sleazebay!
