For those thinking about using e-bay and for those already using e-bay, you need to be VERY careful about the information you place on your Me Page. It is the FIRST place internet stalkers go to get information that they can post all over the internet. You can become the target of a disgruntled buyer, or seller, and any info you provide on your Me Page, can show up on various hate boards, or porn sites, you name it. One well know stalker stated, " if it's posted on e-bay it's public information, and it's open game." It is protocol for Lieworld employees. So protect yourself when using e-bay, because e-bay refuses to do it for you.
Using ebaY right now, for any purpose, is a fool's game.
IT is just plain DANGEROUS.
Anyone brave should be sure to have no js enabled, and no active-x if you are using IE.
There are ALOT of fake sign in issues all over right now, including reports of some pages which appear to be perfect forgeries, and perhaps another dark, looming secret, IMO.
Ebay knows about this, hopefully it will be resolved soon. With the boards all aflutter about the new trojans, redirects and viruses that have appeared on the site, something like this is making the users (justifiably) very nervous.
Just to remain on the safe side, make sure that your computer has all the most recent patches, regularly run spyware (preferably 2 different products) and virus protection on your computer regularly. Also change your Ebay password on a regular basis.

all this just to sell a vase? or a book? or bubble wrap? What a pain in the butt e-bay has become!
On an aside, if anyone reading along out there has any regard for the safety of their fellow ebaYers/consumers, now is the time to do the right thing.

Question about signing in to the boards?
annabelle0_0 ) View Listings | Report Mar-16-07 22:51 PDT If I am on the boards reading the treads and go to look at an op's feedback, actually anyone that has posted on the boards, I have to sign in again and once I am signed in it takes me to a user who is "null" and they are no longer a registered member. This has been going on for about 4 days.I have never had this happen before. Any ideas?

comfortably_numb! ) View Listings | Report Mar-16-07 22:58 PDT 1 of 26 Are you clicking on their username or their FB number? Clicking on the FB number (12) should take you to their FB profile page without having to log in. Clicking on their username might require you to log in since it takes you to a 'Contact Member' page, but I have no idea why you are seeing everyone as NARU.
What do you think you're doing?
mrspeeples ) View Listings | Report Mar-16-07 22:59 PDT 2 of 26 I am signed in it takes me to a user who is "null" I don't know about that, but someone else will come along that will be able to answer that.
You don't have to sign in to read other posters feedback, Just click on view listings, and then the feedback number.
orange_cape_hides_me ) View Listings | Report Mar-16-07 23:00 PDT 3 of 26 It's a glitch that has been reported on a lot of the boards for the last week or so.
Just back out of the page, then try again.

It doesn't matter who's feedback I click on, I go to a sign in page and once I am signed in, it takes me to that member null's page, it doesn't take me to the feedback of the member that I am wanting to look at. Cape, you are right, once I hit the back button and click again on the feedback I want to see, it goes to the correct page.

So tell us then, has she been buying orange undies again?
;)
fenton.smith ) View Listings | Report Mar-17-07 10:45 PDT 9 of 26 I did look a bit further and all it shows is the totals, not the actual comments or items. I don't know if there was a change, but private feedback used to not show anything other than the fact that it was private.

orange_cape_hides_me ) View Listings | Report Mar-17-07 12:39 PDT 10 of 26 Fenton, it should show the totals. That's normal. It should show the total feedback, (positives, negatives, neutrals box), the percentage, and whether or not there are any bid retractions or MWs.
No, Mr. Jats, none recently. :) My amore, Cletus, prefers to do the shopping for me. And I don't have it in my heart to complain about the tacky squirrel skin unmentionables he buys.

fenton.smith ) View Listings | Report Mar-17-07 14:11 PDT 11 of 26 That's a change from what it was when I was last active. And, for once, a change for the better. It used to be that with private feedback, you couldn't tell a thing about the user's feedback history. Question, could someone Google your user ID and find those auctions you won?

orange_cape_hides_me ) View Listings | Report Mar-17-07 15:23 PDT 12 of 26 If the feedback has been private continuously, you can sometimes come up with feedback left by a member with private feedback, but you can't always come up with the transactions.
Is there a specific transaction in my history you're looking for?

Just to set the record straight, I didn't even check my mail until about 11:30am. I tried the URL fenton sent and it logged me in alright...as fenton. I replied with that bit of info and asked if he was aware of it and I mentioned that I hadn't sent it to anyone...yet. (was waiting for his reply)

It isn't just the boards. Recent news articles mention two other sign in problems that apparently weren't getting ebay's attention. One user was sent the standard reply to be careful about sign in on phishing URL's!
When security issues come up we should be able to send the info directly to someone who actually understands what's being told to them and they should be followed up on...but NOT with generic emails warning about phishing URL's! X-(

Someone from the Tech department contacted me and asked what we were reporting ...his email address at Ebay bounced back as invalid.

fenton.smith ) View Listings | Report Mar-18-07 14:27 PDT 26 of 26 Actually, you really don't get logged in. eBay allows you to bypass that step. As I told Kathy, I suspect that if I changed my password, that link would still work. If I find myself saying unacceptable things on the boards, I'll have to try it. Of course, there's always the possibility of an ID transplant, but, even then I don't know what would happen.
I think that if a hacker were to play around with that hole, eBay would find itself wide open; well, even more wide open.

If you do the right thing and try to warn your fellow Ebayers, the Voices slither out from under their rocks and shoot you down. I've been called 'chicken little' for saying 'the sky is falling' and accused of trying to starve the families of those who feel they must 'do' Ebay. I've been accused of having 6 selling IDs, 6 buying IDs, and at least 6 posting IDs (I have 2 IDs) so anything said by me should be considered suspect and not credible.
They should know by now that I don't get run off easily but they keep trying. The trick is to drop into a thread with your warnings and, when the attacks on your character begin, skip out again. Give them no 'interpersonal disputes' to report you for.

People should start to file complaints, should they feel that something is afoul.
Let the government figure IT out, because WE certainly cannot trust them to tell the truth.

Great post, IceBlueEyes! In fact, There are some stalkers who have taken photos from eBay members' "About Me" pages and morphed them into vulgar, pornographic images. Not too cool. Might even be illegal.
