My seller's account on Paypal was just limited for absolutely NO reason not that long ago, and ever since then I've been learning just how common this is. I'm wondering whether or not I should even bother selling on eBay anymore since it doesn't seem like Paypal ever gives anyone their account access back. Has anyone on here actually managed to sell successfully on eBay without using Paypal though? If you have, please let me know becauase I'm really doubting whether it's even possible. Thanks

I sell on ebay without using Paypal. It can be done successfully. I had my doubts when I kicked Paypal to the curb also but all has turned out fine for me just offering checks and money orders for payment options. Of course I do not send items until payments clear but no one seems to mind waiting as I state that in my listing.
Many also state they like Bidpay so that they can accept credit card payments from buyers. The worst/best I have heard about them was that they do not accept payments without checking them out first and sometimes this can lead to a payment being denied for a tiny reason. Should that happen calling a rep over there can many times be helpful in fixing the problem so that payment can be made.---I hear there customer service is nothing like Paypals and you can actually talk to a real-nice -sane human when you call LOL.
Should you decide to go with a payment service such as bidpay make sure you read their user agreement and open a separate checking account from your normal one just for bidpay use.
Google Check rocks too. and it's FREE all this year. You can't mention G in your listings but you can say "I accept Credit Cards" (and even fly some CC logos as well) Then when you auction ends, just send the customer a GC invoice to pay.

Good advice! You can also use bidpay as suggested. Most have great experience using bidpay, and especially if you do any international sales.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!!

You were right. In fact my first sale with Bidpay was denied at first, but I called customer service there and they actually helped me through the problem and it was fixed immediately. A real live human being even answered my call and wasn't a jerk!
Just curious, did you notice any significant drop in profits after you stopped taking Paypal? I haven't sold much through BidPay yet, but it seems to work great! I'll have to see how future sales compare with when I was still using PP though..

I agree. Go this route. Just turn off the Ebay Check-Out and send the buyer a Google invoice. You can't beat free!
Unless you are always selling the exact same item (which I don't) at the exact same time how would you know?
But then if it would be scammers bidding on my items because they can easily have my item and get a refund via Paypal too why would I want their bid? More bids do not necessarily mean better bids if PP is involved.
I can offer items many times at a lower cost to buyers because I don't pay paypal fees and still make the same profit. This is also good for the buyer and I am quite happy with my sales. I have not noticed any drop in profit personally.
I do know that I no longer have to worry about things such as the old switcharoo even though I do accept returns if warranted, I do not worry about having my account frozen(while PP collects interest on the money) Nor do I as an honest seller ever have to fume and fuss because PP refunded someone I know in my heart was lying.
I like being in control of my own business and taking care of my own money. The time I used to spend reading PP policy changes and trying to keep up with all of their requirements I now spend giving my customers Quality customer service which they seem to appreciate judging by repeat sales.
All any seller can do is try different options and find what works best for them. I just personally can't recommend PP to anyone because of their unfair policies and practices.

JMHO,
You might consider other venues. Have you seen all the recent ebaY related news?
If you are selling anything collectible, unusual, hard to find, etc honest bidders/buyers will have no problem conforming to your payment options.
You would be surprised to see how many folks will take the time to go to post office, get a money order, send IT via priority, or even overnight, when they want the item.
PayPal sellers are dead smack-dab in the crosshairs of the scammers. (oh seems that they are in PP crosshairs as well, oftentimes)
I don't sell alot, but when I do, I take money orders. I've never had ONE person buy an antique from me, that had a problem sending a M O. They want the items and don't care how I want paid as long as they get their prize. That may be problematic for large volume sellers, but I love it. No PP BS. Priceless. I don't know how people sleep at night knowing PP has access to their bank accounts. And before Clinic shows up to say they NEVER take money out of bank accounts, YES THEY DO!!
