The eBay Class Of 2000-2005: Where They Are Now And Why We Should Care

They had me right up until the phrase entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Then it struck me. (again)

That ecosytem is polluted on so many levels it is unsuitable for any higher forms of life. It's just plain toxic. A condition which can be shown to worsen with each passing day, secret policy change, survey, fee streamlining, seller update, major [failed] project etc etc ad nauseum...

Not only that but these curious incidents are happening at increasing amplitude and frequency. Suggest throwing a few cartesian coordinates up on a chart, assigning nominal vertical value to events Vs time. Further separations between events can be color coded for PR, policies, glitches etc. You'll see.

Meanwhile, we have other data which follows an inverse curve.

Conclusion: things may not be so rosy behind the stained and sleazy pink curtain.

The only organisms which can exist in such an environment are likely to be mutants of one form or another. The Mad Max Thunderdome movie comes to mind. Bartertown. lmao

The eBay Class Of 2000-2005: Where They Are Now And Why We Should Care

In the e-commerce space, I keep coming back to the talent that came out of eBay during the 2000-2005 time period to find the best leaders that are now creating the next generation of successful companies (both early and late stage).
