A Yavapai County man bought a Wii game on eBay, only to receive a wooden block for his $400.

The game usually sells for $250, but has been sold out in most stores for months.

The man, from the Village of Oak Creek, paid for the game with a credit card in early February.

When the package arrived in the mail and the victim opened the box, it contained only a wooden block.

He filed a complaint with ebay and Pay Pal, services used by internet buyers and sellers.

When Pay Pal checked the sellers account, it had already been closed.

Both companies are conducting investigations into the fraud.

The Yavapai County Sheriffs Office reminds internet customers to use caution when purchasing items online.

They say that a fraud victim has a better chance of recovering a loss if they use a credit card and call their bank immediately if a fraud occurs.

Also that its safer to use a payment service, like PayPal, which prevents the recipient from seeing the buyers sensitive financial information.

And finally, YCSO reminds consumers that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
