eBaY tried that before, not refunding fees automatically that is. Sellers had to ASK for their fees whenever accounts were hijacked or when accounts had been messed with by auction bombers who'd come around to close hundreds of auctions just for the hell of it. Getting money out of ebay has always been like "pulling teeth."

Yes, they sure made that mass fraud from Chinese BIN bandits situation go away, (ahem, almost) same sort of secenario;Ebay wracks up a huge profit by robbing millions of sellers for small change, and makes it ridiculously difficult, to recover your fees.

Whereas most would be considered a rip-off flim a flam scam, ebaY puts the spin on it, and suddenly massive, unrivaled thievery, coupled with a state of the art auto-responder Ivory Tower strongarm brush-off makes them

"The World's Online Marketplace®, enabling trade on a local, national and international basis. With a diverse and passionate community of individuals and small businesses, eBay offers an online platform where millions of items are traded each day."

Looking around the blogosphere, I see a very popular blogger/former ebay mega-powerseller is mentioning Boston, Boston Tea Party,  etc.

Well, I am glad someone finally said something, because I have been thinking along those lines for a while now, basically since they announced Boston.

I feel that if these issues are not resolved by then, well, who knows what we may see this spring/summer, but I know folks are p!$$ed and FED UP, on many levels.

What is the suggested footwear for Boston ebaY live?
Moccasins, or jack boots?

The World's Online Marketplace®, enabling trade on a local, national and international basis. With a diverse and passionate community of individuals and small businesses, eBay offers an online platform where millions of items are traded each day.

I have looked it up and it appears to be a chinese scam....

Hi all,

Sorry this is a fairly lengthy post but I am in a bit of a state at the moment as my ebay account has been "hijacked" and would really like some help. I only discovered today that my account has been taken over due to some emails from ebay, such as,

"Dear stu1million,

It appears that your eBay password has become known to a third party.

It is possible that an unauthorised third party found out your password using a "spoof" email. These are fraudulent emails made to appear as if they were sent by eBay. Spoof emails attempt to collect your password or other personal information, usually by asking you to click on a link in the email and sign into a spoof website.

To protect the security of your eBay account, we have reset your eBay password and Secret Question (password hint question). As a result, you won't be able to sign into your eBay account with your current password. Please follow the instructions in this email to restore access to your eBay account securely.

Here's what you should do now:

1) Choose a new eBay password
2) Change your Secret Question
3) Update your information in Turbo Lister
4) Protect against spoof emails"

etc....

so I signed into my account and straight away am faced with the following,

"Due to recent activity, including possible unauthorised listings placed on your account, we have temporarily suspended activity on your account in order to allow us to investigate this matter further. If you believe that this action may have been taken in error, or, if you feel that your account may have been tampered with, please respond to this message so that we can provide additional information and work with you to resolve this issue.

After responding to the message, we ask that you allow at least 72 hours for the case to be investigated. Emailing us before that time will result in delays. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and we would like to thank you for your cooperation as we review this matter.

If you have received this notice and you are not the authorised account holder, please be aware that it is a violation of eBay policy to represent oneself as another eBay user. Such action may also be in violation of local, national, and/or international law. eBay is committed to assist law enforcement with any inquires related to attempts to misappropriate personal information with the intent to commit fraud or theft. Information will be provided at the request of law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Best Wishes,

eBay Trust and Safety"

I know for a fact that I haven't signed in using emails as I always delete ebay emails because I've only ever purchased one item off ebay and think that it is a rubbish waste of time site!

Anyway in my sent messages bit in "my ebay" there are 3 pages full of the same message sent to loads of different users and all of these messages say,

"dear friend, we are an electron export company. we mainly sell mobile, lcd tv,gps,ps3,gps ,ipod, digital camera ,laptop and so on.
all what we sell come with 1 year official guarantee, and we sell at competitive price if you order in bulk.if you are interest, please contact us
website:www.dvele.com
Email:dvele-1@hotmail.com
Msn:dvele-3@hotmail.com"

I have looked it up and it appears to be a chinese scam!

I have changed all my security details, emailed ebay back explaining that I wasn't behind this and could they close the account all together, I've closed my Paypal account as a safety measure and I honestly don't know what else to do and am so angry at the ******'s!

Is there anywhere I can report this site for doing this?
Oh and also is there a way I can contact the users that received messages from my account just to apologise as a few wrote back having a go because they received over 15 messages?!

Thanks to everyone that manages to read this far!

Stu.

PayPal Account Hijacked

By Dr. E. L. Threadgill

My PayPal account was used w/o my authorization 11/07/04 to purchase the product you see below. Neither my bank, PayPal, Ebay has refunded money taken. I am in the long process of affidavits proving I am me. No one made the violator prove they had the authority to take from my account. PayPal can't say how this was done but my receipt from PayPal proves it was done. You need to know your PayPal account is not as secured as PayPal would have you to believe...Don't let this happen to you.

This is the email sent on 11/07/04 to me from PayPal...I am NOT gloria3946 and I didn't order this product. I would never have seen this website if I hadn't had my bank account cleaned out by PayPal 11/08/04...Now I am sending this message to everyone and I advised whoever reads this to think seriously before trusting their personal data to PayPal/Ebay.

This is about "hijacked bidders" on eBaY!

forums.ebay.com...

Frustration with hijacked accounts & Ebay!

bagged_kat (362 ) View Listings | Report Mar-26-07 10:32 PDT
I don't know if any of you sellers are experiencing the same thing as I am.
I also posted this on the Clothing board after a fellow boardie was posting that she was going through the same thing!

OK!
NOW I am REALLY UPSET!

I have been selling on Ebay for a year and buying for 8 years.
My Coach Mandy was JUST PULLED again (for the 3rd time) due to another hijacked bidder!
I should say, NOT pulled, but "SOLD" to an unauthorized bidder!
Here is the email I received AGAIN from T&S:

The results of the following listings have been cancelled due to bidding activity that took place without the account owner's authorization:

290097273243 Coach Legacy Khaki/Black Signature Mandy Handbag! 10342
We have temporarily suspended the bidding account and we are working with the account owner to prevent any additional unauthorized activity. Since the account owner did not initiate these bids, fees resulting from the listings in question have been credited to your account.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to automatically relist these items for you. Instead, to relist these items you will need to start from the beginning of the listing process, either through the "Sell Your Item" process or through your third party listing service. We know that this is an inconvenience and we apologize for the negative impact it may cause you. We are working on tools to allow you to relist your items without starting from the beginning, but they are not available at this time.
Do not respond to this email, as your reply will not be received. If there are issues that have not been addressed by this message, you can contact us by clicking the "Help" link located at the top of most eBay pages and selecting "Contact Us" from the menu on the left hand side of the page.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Regards,
eBay Trust & Safety

This is the THIRD time this week alone on just this one item!

I wish Ebay would fix this! It's VERY inconvenient and time consuming!

I need to go shopping!

GRRRR!

I would not be surprised to learn anything about that outfit.

Let me point you back a few months.

First, what was that big thingy about PayPal actually trying to get folks to hand over their bank Passwords? Do you remember that?

Some folks even tried to dismiss it as rumour or misunderstanding, but that is NOT the case.

Unbelievable!!

Next here is the CAPP post

Here is the article, read the comments.

Sure makes me wonder...

That's some very scary stuff, Bud!!

Here's more scary stuff:

They then may unwittingly enter their eBay User name and password into the spoof site, which is designed to harvest the information for fraudulent activities such as account hijackings....

Urgent Warning to eBay Sellers about New Fraud
By: Ina Steiner

I wrote on Friday about scammers using eBay's "Ask Seller a Question" feature to help them harvest email addresses in order to perpetrate fraud. The "Ask Seller a Question" feature is designed to allow potential buyers to ask sellers questions without either party having access to the other's email address, but is now being exploited.

I'm hearing from users that the scammers are stepping up their attacks in an extremely devious way. The technique involves asking the seller a question about an "identical item" they saw listed on eBay, and includes a link to the supposed listing. Unwary sellers who go to view the item by clicking or pasting in the link are taken to a spoof site, where they are asked to sign in again (it is not unusual to have to log-in to eBay for different tasks). They then may unwittingly enter their eBay User name and password into the spoof site, which is designed to harvest the information for fraudulent activities such as account hijackings.

Not only is the seller vulnerable, but for auctions where Questions and Answers are displayed on the original auction description page, potential buyers may fall for the scam.
